Bills Confirm Unexpected Setback As Another Key Player Will Miss Seahawks Game

The Buffalo Bills will try to maintain their commanding lead in the AFC East against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. After winning their last two games, the Bills will face a dangerous opponent in Seattle, who is 4-3 and leads the NFC West heading into the game. Prior to the game, the Bills had already ruled out several key starters, including linebacker and captain Terrel Bernard, due to an ankle ailment. Bernard suffered the injury during Buffalo’s triumph over the Tennessee Titans last week. That injury, combined with a pectoral injury he’s been fighting with all season, forced the Bills to rule him out. With Bernard out, Baylon Spector will take his position.

Bills Coach Sean McDermott on game injury updates

Coach Sean McDermott reaffirmed his trust in Spector ahead of Sunday. “There was a few weeks there where [Bernard] was out … so I thought he did a real nice job for us, leading the defense, the communication piece that goes with that middle linebacker position,” McDermott said. Along with Bernard, the Bills have ruled out receiver Curtis Samuel and rookie defensive lineman DeWayne Carter against the Seahawks. Carter is anticipated to miss significant time due to a wrist injury that will necessitate surgery. “Will [Carter] go on IR is probably your next question, we’ll see,” noted McDermott. “We’ll simply see where that leads; there’s a good chance of that. I am not sure if we have arrived yet, but there is a decent likelihood.”

Carter was taken by the Bills in the third round of the 2024 NFL draft from Duke University.
