Breaking News: Seahawks Star Suffer Another Major Injury Setback

Seattle Seahawks star wide receiver missed practice for the second consecutive day due to a knee injury, as noted in the team’s practice report.

This development wasn’t unexpected, as Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald indicated  that the team would reassess Metcalf’s condition. Reports from ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter state that Metcalf is dealing with a Grade 1 MCL sprain he sustained in the third quarter  victory over Atlanta. His availability for the home game against AFC East-leading Buffalo remains uncertain.

Right tackles Abraham Lucas (knee) and George Fant (knee) continued to be limited participants after being designated to return to practice any time soon. Lucas has been recovering from offseason knee surgery and was on the physically unable to perform list before training camp. Fant, on the other hand, has been on injured reserve since suffering a knee injury in Week 1. Both players can practice for up to 21 days before Seattle must decide to add them to the 53-man roster.

The cornerback situation for the Seahawks remains unclear, with Riq Woolen (ankle) participating in a limited capacity for the second straight day, while Tre Brown (ankle) again did not participate. Rookie cornerback Nehemiah Pritchett (ankle) was upgraded to limited participation on Thursday after missing Wednesday’s practice.

In the safety position, Julian Love (knee/quad) was upgraded to full participation on Thursday after being limited on Wednesday. However, defensive end Mike Morris (ankle) and nose tackle Cameron Young (knee) both sat out practice on Thursday after being limited the day before.

Defensive end Leonard Williams (knee/non-injury-related rest) improved from a non-participant to full participation, and running back Kenneth Walker III (illness), who played through flu-like symptoms against Atlanta, was upgraded from a non-participant to limited.

Seahawks waive safety Ty Okada, leaving roster spot open

Seattle Seahawks Place Rayshawn Jenkins on IR, Sign Ty Okada

Another day brings a roster adjustment for the Seattle Seahawks.

In addition to finalizing the trade for Ernest Jones IV, the Seahawks announced the waiver of safety Ty Okada. The trade, which sent Jerome Baker to the Seahawks, is unrelated to Okada’s release.

Okada had a strong preseason but did not make the initial 53-man roster. He was signed to the practice squad, and after starting safety Rayshawn Jenkins was placed on IR, Okada was promoted to the active roster last week. He has participated in two games, logging six defensive snaps against the San Francisco 49ers and 48 combined special teams snaps in games against the 49ers and Atlanta Falcons.

With Okada waived, it’s likely he will return to the practice squad unless he is claimed by another team. His departure could indicate that second-year safety Jerrick Reed II is poised to be activated off the PUP list. Reed was designated for a return to practice last week and was a full participant on Wednesday. Additionally, right tackle George Fant may also be on track to return from IR, suggesting more roster changes could be forthcoming for the Seahawks.
