The Buffalo Bills may have easily trounced the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, but they did lose a few guys. Linebackers Terrel Bernard and Dorian Williams, who have combined for 102 tackles this season, left the game with ankle and knee ailments. At the beginning of the week, coach Sean McDermott stated that the club will wait and see with the linebackers.
However, now that practice week has started, the club has been able to share additional information about each of their ailments. Williams was able to practice in a limited way, giving some hope that he may be ready to go by Sunday. Bernard, on the other hand, skipped practice, and McDermott said he is dealing with an ankle injury on a daily basis.
Aside from Williams and Bernard, the Bills had many additional defensive starters listed on the injury report. Dawuane Smoot and Daquan Jones, both defensive linemen, skipped practice on Wednesday as well. Smoot has a groin issue, and Jones has a foot injury, although McDermott says Jones’ absence was for rest. While losing Smoot on Sunday would be difficult, Bernard’s absence would be even more significant. The Bills had already been without Bernard for many games this season, and his leadership and intensity on the field were clearly missed by the defense.
