The Baltimore Ravens’ offense is on fire, with quarterback Lamar Jackson leading the charge during a five-game winning streak, including a 41-point outburst against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday Night Football. The team’s scoring surge, averaging 35 points per game during the streak, is even more impressive given the absence of a true No. 1 wide receiver. While rookie Zay Flowers leads the team with 34 catches for 412 yards, his production hasn’t reached an elite level.
Bradley Locker of Pro Football Focus suggested a “fairytale” trade scenario where the Ravens could target Tennessee Titans’ wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins before the NFL’s November 5 trade deadline. Hopkins, 32, has shown he still has the ability to make an impact, earning an 82.3 receiving grade in 2023. Despite his lower efficiency metrics this season, some of his struggles can be attributed to a lack of opportunities, as he’s been targeted only 21 times in six games and has just one drop.
The Ravens rank second in receiving grade as a team, but the performance of their wideouts hasn’t been up to the same standard. Zay Flowers has been a bright spot, but no other Baltimore receiver has surpassed a 75.0 receiving grade. Pass-catchers like Isaiah Likely and Justice Hill have contributed, but they don’t provide the outside threat that Hopkins could bring.
Adding Hopkins, a five-time Pro Bowler who caught 75 passes for 1,057 yards and seven touchdowns last season, could elevate the Ravens’ passing game. With Hopkins in the final year of his contract, Baltimore would have the flexibility to re-sign him or explore younger options through the draft or free agency after the season.
