Breaking: Syracuse to Land ‘Massive’ Commitment for Top Rated 5-Star Talent

A highly rated prospect from Florida, visited Syracuse basketball for an official visit this past weekend, accompanied by his family.

His father, Ed Constanza, shared that their experience on the visit was very positive. Ed, who is always a pleasure to speak with, is known for his openness in conversations.

Alex Constanza, standing at 6-foot-8, is a five-star guard/small forward from Westminster Academy in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He is ranked as high as No. 10 nationally in the 2026 class by Rivals.com, while the 247Sports Composite ranks him No. 11 overall in the same class.

According to Ed, Alex “really enjoyed the visit and had a chance to connect with the coaching staff and some players. … It was definitely a great visit, with a fantastic staff and atmosphere.”

Syracuse offered Alex Constanza a scholarship in mid-January, a development I initially reported. His primary recruiter from Syracuse, assistant coach Allen Griffin, recently observed him during an open gym at Westminster Academy as part of the fall recruiting period.

In late August, Constanza made an unofficial visit to Miami. His father mentioned that they are considering visits to other programs, including Illinois, Baylor, and Florida State. “Our focus has been on visiting schools that match his playing style and offer the right opportunities for his development and continued success,” Ed Constanza explained.

Speculation has arisen among Syracuse fans on social media about Alex possibly reclassifying to the 2025 class. His father confirmed that a reclassification is being considered, although no final decision has been made.

Alex currently holds around 30 scholarship offers, with more interest coming from major programs like Kentucky. A recent post by Nic Thomas, founder of Draftstack, on X suggested that Syracuse is currently leading in his recruitment.

When asked, Ed confirmed that Syracuse is indeed the front-runner for now, while other top contenders include Baylor, Florida State, and Miami. I’ll continue to stay updated with Ed Constanza on Alex’s recruitment and any potential reclassification. Alex was also an All-American at Westminster during the 2023-24 season.
