Breaking: Ole Miss Warmly Welcomes Another Top Star Return From Injury

While the 2024 Ole Miss Rebels compete, 23 former players are actively playing on Sundays, with an additional eight on NFL rosters as part of practice squads or on injured reserve.

In terms of NFL success, 315 Rebels have been drafted since 1936, with 31 earning spots in at least one Pro Bowl. Ole Miss has produced 23 first-round draft picks and 18 players who have won Super Bowl rings, including legendary quarterback Eli Manning, who boasts two rings and two Super Bowl MVP awards. The Rebels also have three alumni enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame: Bruiser Kinard (1970), Gene Hickerson (2007), and Patrick Willis (2024).

On Sunday, former star wide receiver A.J. Brown, affectionately nicknamed “The Mayor” by Ole Miss fans, made his return after a five-week injury hiatus. In a game against the Cleveland Browns, he caught six passes for 116 yards and scored a touchdown. Evans Engram also came back from a hamstring injury, leading all tight ends in receiving yards this past weekend. Additionally, former cornerback Jaylon Jones delivered one of his best performances in the NFL for the Chicago Bears, recording 10 tackles in a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Philadelphia Eagles — AJ Brown

A.J. Brown, affectionately called “The Mayor” by Ole Miss fans, made his return to the field for the Philadelphia Eagles after missing time since Week 1 due to a hamstring injury. In his second game of the 2024 season, Brown excelled, catching six passes for 116 yards and scoring his first touchdown of the season. The Eagles ultimately defeated the Cleveland Browns.

Jacksonville Jaguars — Evan Engram and Deantre Prince

In addition to Brown, Evan Engram also made a successful return to the field after suffering a hamstring injury. Engram played for the Jacksonville Jaguars this past Sunday, going 10-for-102 yards, which is the most receiving yards by a tight end this past week, despite the team’s 35-16 loss to the Bears.
