Breaking: Deion Sanders Sends Strong Message To Buffaloes Team

Despite a narrow 31-28 loss to K-State in Week 7, Deion Sanders expressed pride in his Colorado football team. Although he was eager for a victory, Sanders acknowledged the challenge of securing a win given the numerous injuries to key players like Travis Hunter, Jimmy Horn Jr., and Omarion Miller.

“I’m proud of you all… You fought till the end. I wanted that win at any cost, but I’m proud of you because you fought to the end,” Sanders said via Well Off Media (h/t On SI). “That shows resilience. That shows who you are. We didn’t have our best defensive game, did we? Couldn’t stop the run. We allowed some big plays on passing. Struggled to run the ball, right?

“We had three receivers out… four receivers injured… And we still had a chance to win the game… In every way, you should be proud of yourselves. Even though we didn’t win, you should be proud because we played one of our worst games and still had a shot at victory. Now, let’s go win it next time.”

Colorado football still moving in the right direction despite loss to K-State

Colorado performed well even in their defeat. Shedeur Sanders came close to a 400-yard passing game, finishing just 12 yards short, and stepped up to support Will Sheppard and LaJohntay Wester after Travis Hunter, Jimmy Horn Jr., and Omarion Miller went out. Miller was having his best game before his injury, which made Shedeur’s adjustment even more impressive.

While the defense struggled, K-State typically racks up over 400 yards per game. Colorado, to their credit, held them below that average.

The Buffs still look capable of winning eight or more games this season, as long as they can stay healthy moving forward.

Colorado Football: 3-Star Offensive Lineman’s Status Uncertain After Cryptic Message Surfaces Following Week 7 Loss

The Colorado football team put up a strong fight on Saturday but ultimately lost at home to the 18th-ranked Kansas State Wildcats. Quarterback Shedeur Sanders led an impressive offensive effort, completing 34 of 40 passes for 388 yards and three touchdowns. However, an interception and a last-second incompletion on 4th down sealed Colorado’s fate. Now, with a 4-2 record, they’ll head into next week’s road game against Arizona. Still, just one more win this season would mark a significant improvement from last year, representing a 500% increase from their single win in 2022.

The close loss may have also signaled the end of an offensive lineman’s time with the team. Following the 41-38 defeat, backup center Yakiri Walker announced on an Instagram live feed that he intends to transfer again, marking his second transfer in two years. Walker, a three-star prospect, currently serves as the backup center, according to Ourlads.

Colorado Football OL Yakiri Walker Eyeing Potential Transfer

Yakiri Walker’s time with Colorado football appears to have ended almost as soon as it began. After Colorado’s loss to the Kansas State Wildcats on Saturday, Walker announced he’s no longer with the team, despite still being listed on the official roster. A three-star recruit from the class of 2021, Walker initially started his college career at UConn before transferring to Colorado this offseason. The center arrived with two years of eligibility left, having played in 34 games over the last three seasons.

Walker’s anticipated exit is unlikely to significantly affect the current state of Colorado’s offensive line. He has not taken the field this season, even as the Buffaloes have faced ongoing challenges in both establishing a rushing attack and protecting quarterback Shedeur Sanders. As they approach their next game, Colorado ranks last among Big 12 teams in rushing yards per game and yards per carry.
