Latest Update: Kings’ Confirm critical shoulder injury update Regarding Top Star

Sacramento Kings sharpshooter, who suffered a season-ending shoulder injury in March and underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum, has been cleared for full contact as the 2024-25 NBA season approaches, according to Jason Anderson of the Sacramento Bee.

While there’s no definitive timeline for his return to gameplay, this news is promising for both Huerter and the Kings, especially with the new season starting in less than two weeks.

Huerter, 26, dislocated his left shoulder on March 18 against the Memphis Grizzlies after being fouled by Desmond Bane. Following further imaging, it was determined that he required season-ending surgery.

Last season, Huerter played in 64 games, averaging 10.2 points and 3.5 rebounds per game while shooting 36.1 percent from three-point range—his lowest percentage and scoring output since his rookie season. Since being traded to the Kings from the Atlanta Hawks in 2022, Huerter has been an essential shooting asset on the wing.

The Kings are optimistic that he will return to full strength and once again pose a shooting threat alongside All-Stars De’Aaron Fox, Domantas Sabonis, and DeMar DeRozan.

Huerter will spend the coming weeks ramping up his activities in preparation for his return to the court for actual games. However, it’s not guaranteed that he will start for the Kings upon his return.

Keon Ellis made a significant impact for the Kings towards the end of the 2023-24 season, and many expect him to be the starting shooting guard as the new year begins, thanks to his defensive tenacity and toughness. With DeMar DeRozan and Keegan Murray set to occupy the forward spots and Domantas Sabonis returning as the starting center, Huerter may be gradually eased back into action, potentially starting from the bench.
