Breaking: Dodgers Confirm Another Major Injury Setback, Star to Miss Entire 2025 Season

Dodgers pitcher, who missed all of September due to injury, is now expected to be sidelined for the entire 2025 season after undergoing right shoulder surgery on Wednesday, the team announced Saturday. The procedure was performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles, but the Dodgers did not provide many details about it. When asked for specifics during his off-day press conference, manager Dave Roberts said only that the surgery was “successful” and addressed multiple issues in Stone’s shoulder. He added, “I don’t see him coming back in ’25.”

However, there’s still a glimmer of hope for a quicker-than-expected recovery, as Tony Gonsolin—who underwent Tommy John surgery in September 2023—could potentially make the Dodgers’ NLCS roster in 2024.

Stone showed significant improvement in 2024 after enduring some growing pains in his MLB debut in 2023. He secured the fifth-starter role in spring training and finished the season with a 3.53 ERA and 3.94 xERA. Notably, he led the team in starts (25), innings (140⅓), and wins (11). Stone was initially placed on the injured list on September 6 due to shoulder inflammation, and despite a plan to rest for 10 days, his condition did not improve, resulting in a move to the 60-day IL on September 24, ending his season.

He joins a growing list of Dodgers pitchers expected to miss significant time in 2025 due to surgeries, including River Ryan and Kyle Hurt, who underwent Tommy John surgery, and Emmet Sheehan, who had a hybrid Tommy John and internal brace procedure in May. In total, 11 Dodgers starting pitchers landed on the injured list this season.
