Latest Update: Bruins Confirms Ground Breaking News Regarding Top Star

The Boston Bruins have placed veteran defenseman on waivers with the intent to assign him to the AHL. If he clears waivers by this afternoon, he will join the Providence Bruins.

Ian Mitchell, who played college hockey under Jim Montgomery at the University of Denver, has served as a depth defenseman for the Bruins since signing with the team before last season. However, he’s now been surpassed by Parker Wotherspoon as Boston’s seventh defenseman.

Last season, Mitchell appeared in 13 games for Boston, recording two assists, but spent the majority of the year in Providence, playing 42 games. This summer, he signed a one-year contract extension with the Bruins.

Mitchell was sidelined by an injury during training camp. Though he traveled with the team to Florida, he wasn’t active for any games.
