Breaking News: Hurricanes Lands Blockbuster Deal For Another Four Star Player

The University of Miami football team is off to a strong start with a 6-0 record and a No. 6 national ranking, putting head coach Mario Cristobal and the Hurricanes in the spotlight.

However, Jim Larrañaga has also led Miami men’s basketball to significant success. While last season was a challenging one with a 15-17 record, the Hurricanes made it to the Final Four just two seasons ago.

Recently, Larrañaga’s team scored a major victory on the recruiting front. According to Christopher Stock of 247Sports,  a four-star center from Putnam, Connecticut, has committed to Miami. He chose the Hurricanes over Cincinnati and Xavier, along with several other offers.

Ahmed, a 6-foot-9, 300-pound player, took an official visit to Miami last weekend, which played a key role in his commitment, as he shared with 247Sports.

“It was the relationship I had with the coaches on that visit,” Ahmed said. “I had a great connection with the head coach, Coach L, coach Bill (Courtney), the whole staff, and the players. It felt like I’d already been there for a year or two. I really enjoyed that visit.”

Ahmed has an inspiring background. Born in Nigeria, he moved to the United States in 2022 as part of the Team New England Beyond Borders program. At 6-foot-9, Ahmed not only offers a strong back-to-the-basket presence for Miami but can also occasionally step outside and pose a shooting threat.

“I’m a player who can score in the post and is a strong rebounder, but also a great teammate who always tries to bring positive energy to practices and games,” Ahmed told 247Sports.

Ranked by 247Sports as the No. 9 center in the 2025 class, Ahmed is also considered a top-80 recruit nationally.
