Breaking News: Bulldogs Lands Blockbuster Deal For Two Top Stars

Anyone who follows Georgia basketball knows the program is on the upswing. Although the Bulldogs haven’t made the NCAA tournament since 2015, they seem to be heading in the right direction.

Last season, the team reached the NIT Final Four, leading to an increase in recruiting efforts. This was evident on Tuesday when head coach Mike White secured a commitment from four-star prospect Kareem Stagg.

Stagg becomes the second commitment for the Bulldogs’ 2025 class, joining four-star forward Jacob Wilkins. With these additions, Georgia’s recruiting class is now ranked among the top 15 in the country, and both prospects are in the top 100—something that most programs would be pleased with.

This kind of success has become the norm in Athens.

Three straight years with two top-100 recruits

As previously mentioned, Stagg and Wilkins make up the Bulldogs’ 2025 recruiting class, ranking as the No. 72 and No. 50 players in the nation, respectively. This trend of securing top talent has been consistent, as the 2024 class also included two top-100 players: five-star Asa Newell at No. 19 and Somto Cyril at No. 46.

Looking back to the 2023 class, where this success began, Georgia secured three top-100 prospects: Silas Demary Jr. at No. 72, Blue Cain at No. 77, and Dylan James at No. 87.

This marks the first time in Georgia basketball history that the program has had three consecutive recruiting classes with at least two players in the top 100. Historically, Georgia basketball hasn’t recruited at this level, but Mike White has clearly steered the program in a promising direction.

The hope now is that this off-court success will translate into on-court performance this season, with the ultimate goal being a trip to the NCAA tournament for the first time in a decade.

Georgia Announces Arrested Receiver Suspended Indefinitely

Georgia coach Kirby Smart announced on Wednesday that one of his leading receivers, Colbie Young, has been suspended indefinitely. Young, who was the Bulldogs’ top receiver in last week’s game against Auburn, was arrested earlier this week on misdemeanor charges of assault on an unborn child and battery related to an incident involving a female described by police as his ex-girlfriend.

“He’s been suspended indefinitely until this legal matter is resolved,” Smart said. “We can’t comment further on the specifics, but I had a good meeting with him this morning.

“We’re committed to continuing to educate our players and ensuring they understand the seriousness of these incidents. It’s very unfortunate, but we want to make responsible decisions both on and off the field, and this is obviously a very challenging situation.”
