Just In: LSU Football Confirm Major Injury Setback For Two Key Stars

LSU’s initial availability report, released Wednesday ahead of its Saturday game against No. 9 Ole Miss, included three starters.

Caden Durham (foot), a rookie running back for the No. 13 Tigers, is expected to face the Rebels. They also listed wide outs CJ Daniels (knee) and Chris Hilton (ankle) as questionable.

Hilton has yet to play this season as he recovers from what coach Brian Kelly describes as a stress fracture in one of his ankles. Kelly described the injury as “unusual” , resulting in an unexpectedly protracted rehabilitation time for Hilton. He suffered the injury during practice on August 17.

“It’s been a complicated injury,” Kelly explained. “Let’s set the record straight so everyone knows. Chris has done everything to be back as soon as possible. We’ve done scans and MRIs on this injury, but the healing process has been delayed.

Kelly said that LSU expects Hilton to play at some point this season.

Durham injured his foot in LSU’s 42-10 victory over South Alabama on September 28, according to Kelly, and Daniels worsened an existing knee ailment he sustained when playing for Liberty.

Kelly stated after the game that Durham did not sustain a “major injury,” and that he and his staff obtained the best possible prognosis for Daniels after first believing he had reinjured his ACL.

LSU also ruled out wide receiver Kyle Parker, rated linebacker West Weeks as doubtful, and assigned probable tags to defensive tackles Jay’viar Suggs and Jalen Lee.

Tre Harris, Ole Miss’ standout wide receiver, is listed as questionable for Saturday’s game.

Harris departed last week’s Rebels victory over South Carolina with a lower leg injury. Coach Lane Kiffin stated Monday that Ole Miss is preparing to play without him.
