Breaking: Steelers Rule Out 3 Key Players with Major Injury Setbacks

Pittsburgh Steelers rookie inside linebacker, standing 6-foot-3 and weighing around 240 pounds, has the ideal frame for pass rushing, a skill he demonstrated frequently at NC State. However, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin quickly dismissed the idea of him switching to outside linebacker despite injuries in that position group.

Tomlin clarified, “He does not,” when asked if Wilson had the ability to play outside linebacker. Instead, the Steelers plan to use Isaiahh Loudermilk in that role due to the injuries piling up.

Alex Highsmith, DeMarvin Leal, and Nick Herbig have all been ruled out, and the team is considering elevating Ade Ogundeji or Eku Leota from the practice squad for game day. They could also make a roster move before Sunday if needed, though it’s unclear if any of the injuries are severe enough to place someone on injured reserve.

As it stands, Jeremiah Moon is expected to make his first career start at outside linebacker, lining up opposite T.J. Watt as the Steelers navigate their injury issues.

New turn in Davante Adams sweepstakes could benefit Steelers

Raiders' Davante Adams 'absolutely' wants to remain with Las Vegas despite uncertainty around Derek Carr | Fox News

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been keeping an eye on the Davante Adams trade situation, but recent developments involving the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints may elevate their chances of acquiring him. Adams, who previously played with Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers at the Packers and Saints quarterback Derek Carr at Fresno State, has expressed a desire to reunite with one of them.

On Tuesday, the Jets made headlines by firing head coach Robert Saleh and promoting defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich to the position. General manager Joe Douglas remains in place as well. Meanwhile, Saints quarterback Derek Carr has been sidelined with an oblique injury that is expected to keep him out for several games. With the Saints already at 2-3, their ability to remain competitive could impact their willingness to pursue Adams.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter noted that these recent changes might be slowing down trade discussions involving Adams, stating, “I think the events in New York and the events in New Orleans may have slowed down talks with those two teams, and we’ll see if and when they can pick up some steam. Because everybody does expect that Adams is going to be traded; we just don’t know where or when.”

Adams is currently recovering from a hamstring injury but is anticipated to be ready to play this week if a trade occurs. However, it’s uncertain whether he would take the field if he regains his health. Other teams expressing interest in Adams include the Baltimore Ravens and Buffalo Bills.
