Breaking News: Huskers beat four Programs to commit another top talented star

The talented athlete has committed to Nebraska, giving the Huskers a strong pass-catching duo to kick off their 2026 recruiting class.

Following a recent commitment from quarterback Dayton Raiola, wide receiver from Sioux Falls, SD, announced his decision to join Nebraska.

“First and foremost, I want to thank my Lord and savior Jesus Christ, my parents for always supporting me, my brother for being a mentor, and all the coaches, friends, and teammates who have helped me – especially the Washington Warriors and Brandon Valley coaching staffs,” Bonwell-Witte said. “With that, I’m committing to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to continue my academic and football journey.”

Bonwell-Witte was part of the visitors in Lincoln who watched Nebraska defeat Rutgers 14-7 on Saturday.

After attending Nebraska’s summer camp, Bonwell-Witte received an offer from the Huskers, and it became clear that Matt Rhule’s program had made a significant impression on him. His connection with wide receivers coach Garret McGuire played a crucial role in the decision.

“It’s all one big family,” Bonwell-Witte said at the time. “I love the new facility, and they prioritize you as a person, not just as a football player.”

Currently attending Washington High School, is sidelined this season due to a leg injury. Last fall, while playing for Brandon Valley, the 6-2, 190-pound receiver recorded 30 receptions for 588 yards and five touchdowns. He’s been clocked in the 4.5-second range for the 40-yard dash and impressed during one-on-one drills at Nebraska’s summer camp. This past spring, he posted a personal best of 10.90 seconds in the 100 meters.

Nebraska’s offer stood out, especially as it came after he also earned offers from Oklahoma and Kansas State during camp workouts just days prior. Despite a busy camp schedule, Bonwell-Witte showed no signs of slowing down during his workout in Lincoln.

“My route running is solid but could improve,” he said, highlighting his speed and aggressive play style. “But my quickness and ability to attack the ball are my current strengths.”

In addition to Oklahoma and Kansas State, Bonwell-Witte was also receiving interest from Big Ten programs like Minnesota and Wisconsin.

However, by late August, it was clear his relationship with Nebraska would be hard to beat.

“I’d say Nebraska has pushed a little harder,” he said as the season began. “The way I earned the offer and what it meant to me stood out.”
