Breaking News: Packers Land Blockbuster Trade for $120 Million All-Pro WR

Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, and Romeo Doubs are presently the Green Bay Packers’ top three wide receivers.

They’re a talented group, to be sure, but there’s no clear star among them. At least not yet. Reed is presumably on his way, but there are real concerns about Green Bay’s other top wide receivers.

Christian Watson, who missed eight games last season due to ailments, is now struggling with an ankle problem. His durability remains a major worry. There’s also controversy surrounding Doubs, who was suspended for one game for behavior that “negatively impacted the team,” according to GM Brian Gutekunst.

Meanwhile, in Miami, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s lengthy absence has sparked talk that the Dolphins would want to trade top wideout Tyreek Hill.

Packers fans, the oddsmakers say there is a possibility, although a small one. According to SportsBetting.ag’s next-team odds, the Packers have the seventh-best chance of acquiring Hill by trade.

Packers Would Surely Be in On a Trade for WR Tyreek Hill, If Dolphins Shopped Him

Hill led the NFL in 2023 with 1,799 receiving yards and 13 touchdown catches. He was chosen the league’s top overall player by his teammates heading into the regular season, but he hasn’t been able to produce the same results without Tagovailoa.

Hill has 10 receptions for 87 yards in his previous three games, after receiving 7 passes for 130 yards and a touchdown with Tua in the lineup in Week 1. Hill, an exceptional playmaker, would give Packers quarterback Jordan Love the league’s finest receiver.

So, what exactly are the odds?

The Kansas City Chiefs (+300) have the greatest odds to sign Hill. The Baltimore Ravens (+400), Pittsburgh Steelers (+600), Washington Commanders (+800), New York Jets (+1000), New Orleans Saints (+1200), and Packers (+1400) trail them.

“We currently have the Packers with the seventh-best odds to trade for Tyreek Hill,” Robert Cooper, Sportsbook Manager at SportsBetting.ag, told Bill Huber of Sports Illustrated. “This is a more of a personnel placement than anything, as Green Bay is still missing that true No. 1 wideout.”

Reed was Green Bay’s leading receiver last season, with 64 receptions for 793 yards and eight touchdowns. Doubs trailed him with 59 receptions for 674 yards and eight touchdowns.

Hill, a five-time first-team All-Pro, has made the Pro Bowl every year he has been in the league. It’s quite doubtful that Miami will consider trading him, but never say never.

“While we don’t think he’ll end up playing in the Frozen Tundra, we do think the Packers deserve to be one of the ‘favorites’ considering how he could complement that offense and take it to the next level,” Cooper tweeted.

Hill on Trade Rumors: ‘I Can Only Control So Much’

Hill signed a four-year contract for $120 million with the Dolphins in 2022. Hypothetically, if the Packers did trade for him, he would be under contract until 2026.

Hill, for his part, has heard about the trade speculations but insists he is content in Miami.
“You know what, man, I’m just focused on right here and right now,” Hill said of trade speculations, via The Athletic. “We’ve got a beautiful team here and I want to be a part of it.”

“We’ve got a great situation here,” he said. “My family enjoys it, I enjoy it, the weather is nice, and the fans are amazing. So, we have a wonderful position here, man. Obviously, my parents always taught me to control the things that could be controlled. I can only control so much. That being said, we all understand that the NFL is a business. You understand what I’m saying. Moving forward, I’d want to be here. I adore being here. “I adore the guys.”

What he desires, however, may not be a significant factor. If a trade were to occur, Hill would most likely consider Green Bay an intriguing destination. Let’s see what happens.
