Just In: Lane Kiffin Coaching Speculation Grows After New Post

Following the Rebels’ 20-17 loss to the Kentucky Wildcats in Week 5, speculation surrounding Lane Kiffin’s departure from his position at Ole Miss increased. On Saturday, the speculation intensified. Fans believe Kiffin would be a great fit for the underperforming Florida Gators, who are still led by Billy Napier.

However, Napier’s seat is hot with a 3-2 start to the 2024 season and two consecutive losing seasons before that. With Florida boosters apparently gathering funding for Napier’s buyout, it becomes increasingly likely that he will not return in 2025. On the other hand, Ole Miss went all-in this season.

Kiffin was active in the transfer portal throughout the offseason, and the schedule appeared to be in order.

However, with much of this year’s talent expected to exit after the season and Florida providing a more regular road to national title contention, it’s no surprise that talk of Kiffin moving to Gainesville has gained steam among supporters. On Saturday, prior of Ole Miss’ 3:30 p.m. ET game against the South Carolina Gamecocks, Kiffin posted a photo of an alligator on his Instagram story.

Fans were ecstatic when they realized what the article was about. In fact, some users resorted to X to express their quick reactions.

“Why did Lane Kiffin just post a gator on his Instagram story,” a follower asked.

“Stop what you’re doing and go look at Lane Kiffin’s Instagram story they never beating the allegations,” a different individual wrote.

“Lane Kiffin posted a gator on his story,” said a fan.

“Had to see it for myself to believe it,” claimed a fan. “Yep, Lane Kiffin really posted a picture of a Gator in his Insta stories hours before kicking off against South Carolina.”

“Jimmy Sexton has his Instagram account,” another person commented. “There is no way Lane Kiffin can manage this account. I hope he isn’t too obscene.”

“He’s going to Florida, bro!” another exclaimed.

“Why is Lane Kiffin posting a gator on Instagram a couple hours before kickoff of a make or break game?” a fan commented.

It’s worth mentioning that, while Kiffin is an accomplished college football coach, his abilities as a social media troll may be even greater. So do with it what you will. The Florida Gators will face the UCF Knights at 7:45 p.m. ET on Saturday. Looking ahead, a win over South Carolina will bring Ole Miss’ record to 5-1. In Week 7, the Rebels will travel to face the No. 13 LSU Tigers. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
