Breaking News: Blockbuster Trade Sees Rangers Fan-Favorite Depart in an Intriguing Deal

The Toronto Maple Leafs will begin the 2024-25 NHL season in a week, and one trade proposal has them becoming harder ahead of the season.

PuckPedia’s PuckGM tool allows users to make their own transactions. One user requested that the Maple Leafs acquire Matt Rempe from the New York Rangers.

The one-for-one deal would be intriguing since Toronto would receive a strong enforcer in Rempe, who could play on the fourth line and make the Maple Leafs even more difficult to play against. Robertson, meantime, has requested a trade and is vying for a roster position.

The Maple Leafs would acquire Rempe, who became a fan favorite during his rookie season last year. Last season, the 6-foot-9 forward was one of the league’s top enforcers, engaging in many fights and not hesitant to throw his body around.

Maple Leafs acquire:

  • Matt Rempe

Rangers' Matt Rempe not expected to face additional discipline

Rangers acquire:

  • Nick Robertson

However, Rempe is competing for a roster spot in training camp, and with the Rangers wanting to win a Stanley Cup, adding extra quality to the lineup makes sense. Rempe rarely appeared at points last season, as New York was essentially playing with 11 forwards.

In return, the Maple Leafs would move Robertson, who had requested a trade earlier this summer. Robertson has performed well in training camp, but his roster status is not guaranteed. With the Rangers, he could be a third-line winger who adds depth scoring for a low cost, which is exactly what New York needs.
