News Flash: Marlins Loses Another Top Star

Former top prospect may need to search for a new team once again, as the Miami Marlins have designated him for assignment. He played for the Atlanta Braves from 2020 to 2021, where he struggled significantly, posting a .119/.157/.209 batting line with one home run and four RBIs over 24 games and 67 at-bats. His poor performance led to a trade to the Oakland Athletics after the 2021 season.

Unfortunately  his time in Oakland wasn’t much better, as he batted .166/.218/.241 with three home runs and 18 RBIs in 91 games and 241 at-bats. This disappointing stint resulted in another trade, this time to the Philadelphia Phillies. In 2023, he saw some improvement, batting .238/.319/.417 with two home runs and 11 RBIs over 48 games and 84 at-bats with Philly.

This season, he played for the Phillies, Baltimore Orioles, and finally the Marlins. Over 88 games and 165 at-bats, he recorded a .200/.273/.279 line, hitting one home run and driving in 16 runs. Specifically with Miami, he struggled further, batting just .183/.234/.283 with one home run and seven RBIs in 35 games and 60 at-bats. The only bright spot for him was his excellent defensive skills in the outfield.

With his designation for assignment, Pache will either be claimed by another team or, if not, be demoted to the minors or released. Dane Myers has taken his place, having batted .265/.337/.422 with two home runs and 14 RBIs in 40 games and 83 at-bats. Myers has shown promise and is expected to receive more playing time in center field, competing primarily with Derek Hill for starts. This appears to be a good move for the Marlins.
