Just In: Rangers suffer another major injury concern

The New York Rangers player left Tuesday night’s 5-4 win over the New Jersey Devils at Madison Square Garden due to a lower-body injury.

This was his second game of the preseason, and he was not on the bench when it ended. He left during the third period of the team’s 6-4 victory over the Islanders last week.

The Breadman played four shifts in the first period of Tuesday’s game before heading to the locker room. He was ruled out for the rest of the game at the opening of the second period. Despite the issue, the squad is not panicking with opening night just one week away (October 8th at Pittsburgh).

During his post-game comments, head coach Peter Laviolette spoke little about the injury.

“Players abandon the game, and there is always concern. “He is being evaluated.”

Rangers Defeat Devils in Preseason Game

On Tuesday, the Rangers played the Devils for the second time in 24 hours. On Tuesday, Connor Mackey and Victor Mancini scored, as did attackers Kaapo Kakko, Adam Edstrom, and Vincent Trocheck.

Igor Shesterkin played the first two periods, saving 16 of 18 shots. Dylan Garand played the third period, conceding two goals on sixteen shots. The teams split the games, with each winning at home.

Edstrom has had a standout camp, scoring three goals. The coaching staff has been impressed with his performance, noting that he has ticked off many of the criteria they use to evaluate players. He has a good chance of making the opening night roster because Jimy Vesey is injured.

Their final preseason game will be on Friday, when they face the Islanders at UBS Arena.
