Breaking News: Panthers Lands Big Signing For Another Top Star

The Carolina Panthers have added a hometown player and former first-round pick to their practice squad.

The team announced the signing of cornerback Caleb Farley following a tryout earlier. Farley, 25, has struggled with injuries since being selected in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans, limiting his impact on the field.

Since 2021, Farley has appeared in just 12 NFL games and hasn’t played a regular-season snap since November 2022.

A standout from Maiden High School, the Catawba County native recently faced personal tragedy when his father’s home in Mooresville exploded on August 20, 2023, due to a natural gas ignition. The explosion claimed the life of Farley’s father, Robert, while a friend who was also in the house survived with injuries.

Nearly a year after the tragic explosion, Caleb Farley was released by the Tennessee Titans at the end of this year’s training camp. After remaining unsigned for a period, he has now secured a spot with the Carolina Panthers, joining their practice squad.

The Panthers currently have six cornerbacks on their active roster, with Dane Jackson expected to return in the coming weeks. This makes Farley’s path to playing time in Carolina somewhat unclear, but signing with the team gets him back into an NFL environment.

Coming out of Virginia Tech, Farley was highly regarded as a draft prospect, earning praise for his size and ball skills that impressed scouts.
