Breaking News: Dolphins Trade Nets Former No. 1 Pick to Replace QB Tyler Huntley

The Miami Dolphins are struggling terribly with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa out due to a concussion, and the team’s most recent remedy to his absence proven to be as much of a non-answer as the two before it. Tyler Huntley began his debut game for the franchise on Monday Night Football, losing 31-12 to the previously winless Tennessee Titans in primetime. Huntley ended the game 14-of-22 passing for 96 yards, with two sacks and a QBR of 12.1.

Miami is currently 1-3 and on the verge of a losing season, which might trigger a call to action in the front office to add a new quarterback capable of taking advantage of what should be a high-octane offense full of speed talent in the skill positions.

There are a few options, but on September 30, Bleacher Report’s NFL Scouting Department proposed trade with the Carolina Panthers for 2023 No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young.

“The Dolphins and Bryce Young would both take back the starts of their seasons if they could,” according to B/R. “The Panthers are allegedly not interested in trading [Young] after benching him. However, the Dolphins have the ability to overpay for him in a need-based deal. If anyone can help Young succeed in the league, it’s a Mike McDaniel-style coach who knows how to minimize his quarterback’s flaws.”

After Week 2, the Panthers benched Young in favor of Andy Dalton, which surprised many in the NFL. It is difficult to see a scenario in which Young returns to his former stature as the franchise’s future in Carolina, and Miami is now officially anxious for a new signal-caller, which might pave the way for a speedy deal.
