Tre Harris has been Mr. Consistency for Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart in five games this season.
Even in a 20-17 defeat against Kentucky, the senior had 176 receiving yards on 11 catches and scored on a 48-yard touchdown throw right before the conclusion of the third quarter.
Harris may be a star heading into October, but he’ll play a supporting role Saturday when the No. 12 Rebels travel to Williams-Brice Stadium to face a rested South Carolina club.
Even Dart will be an afterthought this week, seeking to rebound from an uncommon day by his standards.
Saturday will be the Juice Wells show. It is also necessary for the former Gamecock to be correct.
Wells, who played two seasons at South Carolina before moving to Oxford last year, has been the ideal second option through the first four games. He averaged 68 receiving yards and one touchdown in wins over Furman, MTSU, Wake Forest, and Georgia Southern.
But in a loss against the now-surging Wildcats, Wells did not record a stat. Dart targeted him twice with overshot passes.
However, none of this affects Wells’ standing as he returns to his other SEC home. Earlier this offseason, on the Locked On Ole Miss Podcast, Wells stated that he left Columbia to “be with a quarterback who was actually experienced in the SEC and can actually control the offense.”
That wasn’t the only subtle barb at Gamecock nation.
“I want to win,” Wells concluded. “I do not enjoy losing. “I am a competitor.

The Gamecocks (3-1, 1-1 SEC) should be at full strength when LaNorris Sellers returns on Saturday. They also defeated Kentucky 31–6 in Lexington, limiting Brock Vandgriff to 30 yards passing.
South Carolina fans have circled Saturday’s game since the comments became public, with several fans criticizing Wells’ attitude and departure from the program. After joining the club from James Madison in 2022, Wells went on a tear, nearly accumulating 1,000 yards and providing a safe harbor for QB Spencer Rattler in upsets against Tennessee and Clemson.
Dart is the established name, but South Carolina takes the win. Who comes out on top? Wells’ influence could decide this.
