Injury Update: Packers lands Replacement For Love

Green Bay Packers fans are eagerly awaiting news on starting quarterback Jordan Love’s status for Sunday’s NFC North matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. Love has been sidelined for the last two games due to an MCL sprain sustained in Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

In a surprise development, Love returned to practice last week ahead of the Packers’ game against the Tennessee Titans, raising hopes that he could return to the field sooner than anticipated. All indications now suggest that Love may be available for Sunday’s game.

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur stated  that Love was limited in practice and added, “We’ll give him up to game time,” according to Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports.

Minnesota’s second-year wide receiver Jordan Addison returned to practice this week after missing the last two games due to an ankle injury sustained in Week 1. Addison expressed confidence about his return, which could spell trouble for the Green Bay Packers’ secondary.

“I’m feeling good to jump back in,” Addison told reporters (via Mark Craig of the Minneapolis Star Tribune). “We’re hot right now. Sam [Darnold] is looking good, the O-line is playing well, and our run game is strong. I think my presence will take things up a notch.”

The Packers’ secondary has been average through the first three games, allowing 222.7 passing yards per game (11th-most in the NFL). With top cornerback Jaire Alexander likely tasked with covering Justin Jefferson, the responsibility of containing Addison may fall on Eric Stokes.

Stokes has struggled in coverage so far this season, giving up one receiving touchdown and allowing a 109 passer rating when targeted. With Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold potentially looking to exploit that matchup, Green Bay’s defensive front will need to generate pressure to prevent big plays in the passing game.
