More Bad News: Bruins Loses Another Top Star To An Unknow Injury

The Boston Bruins’ marquee offseason signing, as yet to take the ice due to an undisclosed day-to-day injury. He, who inked a seven-year, $54.25 million deal to lead the Bruins’ top line, has missed the beginning of training camp and hasn’t participated in full-contact practices or appeared in a game. Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery has taken a cautious approach with Lindholm, emphasizing that the center is being held out as a precaution and isn’t expected to play soon.

“He took the day off, didn’t give it a go today because of where he’s at,” Montgomery said Tuesday. “He’s day to day and won’t play this week.” Earlier, Montgomery mentioned they were being “extra cautious” regarding Lindholm’s recovery.

There is growing concern due to the Bruins not revealing details about Lindholm’s injury, with Montgomery only hinting it might be related to soreness. As confirmed by NHL.com on Sept. 24, the team continues to be tight-lipped, while the coach suggested they are simply erring on the side of caution.

Lindholm’s absence follows a strong season for the Bruins, who exceeded expectations but lacked a true first-line center. Last season, Lindholm split time between the Calgary Flames and Vancouver Canucks, recording 44 points (15 goals, 29 assists) in 75 regular-season games, plus 10 points in 13 playoff games with the Canucks.
