Breaking: Auburn confirm QB has suffered a potential season ending injury

Despite the loss, Auburn experienced minimal attrition during its Week 4 game against Arkansas, aside from what appeared to be a significant leg injury for defensive back.

During a press conference , head coach Hugh Freeze reported that Anthony underwent successful surgery and is in good spirits, though he did not provide additional details about the injury.

The only players unavailable for Auburn during the game were kicker Alex McPherson, tight end Brandon Frazier, and cornerback Tyler Scott.

Scott will miss the entire season due to an ACL injury sustained during summer workouts, while Frazier broke his foot in Week 4. McPherson, on the other hand, was warming up before the Arkansas game as he continues to recover from a gastrointestinal illness that caused him to miss the beginning of the season.

Freeze mentioned that he “leaves it up to the doctors” when asked about a potential timeline for McPherson’s return. However, he noted that McPherson is kicking “some” during practice.

“I don’t think he’s been out there kicking those 50 and 60 yarders like he was capable of doing last year, but he’s definitely getting closer,” Freeze said.

Freshman Town McGough has taken over kicking duties in McPherson’s absence and has only missed one field goal—a 61-yard attempt in Week 2—over the first four weeks.
