Bad News: Chargers Might Be Without A Key Offensive Player

The Kansas City Chiefs are preparing for their first AFC West clash of the season against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 4. However, the Chargers might be without a key offensive player, as quarterback Justin Herbert aggravated an ankle injury in Week 3, forcing him to leave the game early. Heading into the new week with his status uncertain, Herbert provided an update on his recovery on Wednesday.

“I don’t know. It’s still early,” Herbert said. “We just need to keep making progress with the weight room and treatment. That’s always the goal. Last week at this point, I didn’t know either, so it’s about taking as many reps as I can, doing what I can, and seeing how things go.”

While Herbert’s initial comments didn’t offer much reassurance, he later sounded more optimistic about his recovery. “I feel better than I did last Wednesday,” Herbert said. “As long as we keep moving forward and avoid setbacks, I think we’re heading in the right direction.”

If Herbert is unable to play, the Chiefs would face backup quarterback Taylor Heinicke instead, which would be more favorable compared to the one-time Pro Bowler.

Even with Herbert in the lineup, the Chargers are likely to face their toughest challenge yet, as the Chiefs have won their last five meetings with Los Angeles.
