Breaking News: Reds Confirm Unwanted Setback With Terrible Injury To Star

The Cincinnati Reds have placed rookie right-hander on the 15-day injured list due to a right elbow sprain, effectively ending his season. The move was retroactive to Saturday. In related transactions, the Reds activated right-hander Ian Gibaut from the 60-day IL and sent right-hander Alan Busenitz, who was designated for assignment on Sunday, outright to Triple-A Louisville.

Aguiar, 23, last pitched on Thursday, giving up seven runs on six hits and two walks with four strikeouts over four innings in a 15-3 loss to the Atlanta Braves. He finished the season with a 2-1 record, a 6.25 ERA, 12 walks, and 19 strikeouts across 31 2/3 innings in seven starts. Drafted by the Reds in the 12th round of the 2021 MLB Draft, Aguiar made his major league debut on August 19.

Busenitz, 34, pitched four innings across three relief appearances for the Reds this season, posting a 13.50 ERA. His career stats include a 5-2 record with a 4.90 ERA over 68 innings in 60 relief appearances with the Twins and Reds.
