A four-star defensive back from Miami, Florida, who was committed to Penn State since June, changed his mind after an official visit to Colorado to meet “Coach Prime” and the Buffaloes. He witnessed the team, led by Deion Sanders, Shedeur Sanders, and Travis Hunter, secure a thrilling victory over Baylor with a last-second Hail Mary on Saturday.
Following the visit, he decided to switch his commitment from Penn State to Colorado, as reported by Brian Dohn of 247Sports.
“It felt like home to me,” Branch said in an interview with 247Sports after his decision.
His mother, Trina, shared additional insights with Steve Wiltfong of On3, explaining that the chance to be coached by Sanders was too good to pass up, and that he might find an easier path to early playing time at Colorado.
“I believe it’s a great fit because he has a chance to start as a true freshman,” she noted. “Who wouldn’t want to be coached by Deion Sanders? He played the same position Antonio is playing.”
Branch Jr. is rated as a four-star recruit by ESPN, which views him most favorably. In the 247Sports composite rankings, he is listed as the No. 40 safety in the 2025 class and is recognized as a consensus three-star prospect.
