Latest News: Rutgers Receives Top Stars Return From Injury

After a well-timed bye week, Rutgers is the healthiest it has been this season as it prepares for a critical matchup. The Scarlet Knights (2-0) will have key defensive players  available for the game, according to a source familiar with the situation. These players were initially listed as questionable on the Big Ten pregame availability report.

Additionally, running back Samuel Brown and cornerback Al-Shadee Salaam will return to action. Brown, who missed the Akron game after playing against Howard, and Salaam, who could make his season debut, will add depth to the Scarlet Knights’ lineup.

The biggest storyline revolves around Powell’s availability. Despite tearing his Achilles tendon in February, Powell has made significant progress in his recovery. Last season, the Vineland High graduate led the team with 53 tackles before a season-ending wrist injury in Rutgers’ eighth game against Indiana. Like Powell, Rainey and Bailey are also set to make their season debuts.

For Virginia Tech, two key players—running back Bhayshul Tuten and wide receiver Ali Jennings—will be game-time decisions, as reported by ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
