The Pittsburgh Steelers’ 2024 first-round choice, had a possibly serious knee injury that could require him to miss the remainder of his rookie season. The revelation was first reported by Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Fautanu had a ‘tweak’ during practice on Friday and underwent an MRI immediately afterward.
With Troy Fautanu out, Broderick Jones will be assigned at right tackle for the remainder of the season. Dan Moore Jr. is the favorite to start at left tackle following a great start to the season. Fautanu sustained an MCL sprain in his first preseason game against the Houston Texans. It’s unclear whether this is an exacerbation of the injury.
Steelers have placed rookie RT Troy Fautanu on IR with a significant knee injury and the news is not good: He is expected to miss most if not all of the 2024 season, per sources.

Fautanu’s injury is severe enough that he is ruled out and placed on injured reserve. Following Fautanu’s injury, the Steelers elevated offensive tackle John Leglue to provide extra depth on the offensive line. Leglue can play all five positions, but his ability to tackle will be very important.
Jones removed his elbow brace earlier this week and appears healthier than he was previously. Jones now has the potential to rebound, as Mike Tomlin predicted.
