Triple-A Indianapolis, the Pittsburgh Pirates’ lone affiliate still in action, kicked off the weekend with a thrilling 8-6 victory over the St. Paul Saints, fueled by a three-run rally in the ninth inning. Jack Suwinski delivered a clutch two-run homer to seal the comeback, while Joshua Palacios had a standout game, going 3-for-5 with a single, double, and home run.
Shortstop Tsung-Che Cheng continued his impressive run since being called up from the Altoona Curve, collecting his first Triple-A double.
There may be a potential injury concern with catcher Endy Rodríguez, who left the game with trainers after a third-inning throwing error. Rodríguez, who recently returned to action following Tommy John surgery, had only been back for about two weeks.
Notable performances from Pirates prospects:
RF Jack Suwinski: 2-for-5 with a home run, now hitting .247/.318/.465 with 10 doubles, 3 triples, and 7 homers in 46 games.
LF Joshua Palacios: 3-for-5 with a double and a home run, currently slashing .291/.364/.493 with 21 doubles, a triple, and 6 homers across 57 games in the Pirates’ farm system.
