‘He just won’t start’: Nebraska Head Coach Matt Rhule Reveals Availability Of Offensive Star For Illinois Game

Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule explained the condition of offensive lineman Micah Mazzccua for Friday’s game against Illinois.

Rhule said Wednesday that Nebraska will start guard Henry Lutovksy against Illinois, but Mazzccua will be dressed and ready to play.

“Mazzccua will be dressed and ready, he just won’t start,” Rhule told me. “Henry will begin, but Micah will be accessible. He is currently battling with a number of issues, but he is making significant progress. Today’s practice went good. He’ll be present, and if we need him, we’ll go to him. Some are coping with a foot, while others are struggling with other issues. We do our best to be there for everyone. “He is available.”

Mazzccua started the first two games of the season, but left the game against Colorado in the fourth quarter. He did not play against Northern Iowa, but was listed as the No. 2 right guard on Monday’s depth chart, trailing Henry Lutovsky.

Lutovsky made his fifth career start versus Northern Iowa.

“If you go back to Colorado, we put Henry in the fourth quarter and Henry played the fourth quarter,” Rhule said Monday. “Henry is a guy we ear-marked as a starter at the beginning of the year and Micah and Justin (Evans) did a great job for us the first game, but Henry is healthy now.”
