BREAKING NEWS: Top Talented 5-Star Rejects Duke Basketball Program

The Duke basketball program is seeking to build recruiting momentum in the Class of 2025, but that won’t include 5-star guard Braylon Mullins, who has canceled his planned visit to Durham.

Mullins, who included Duke in his Top-10 finalists, has been narrowing down his options recently. He has also canceled visits to Alabama and Tennessee, and hasn’t scheduled trips to Kansas or Purdue yet.

Recruiting insider Adam Zagoria first reported Mullins’ decision.

At 6-foot-5, Mullins is ranked No. 23 in the 247Sports Composite rankings and was set to visit Duke the weekend of October 5.

He has already visited UConn, Michigan, and North Carolina, with an upcoming trip to Indiana, and he still plans to visit Kentucky at the end of October.

Duke has shown strong interest in recruiting brothers Cameron and Cayden Boozer, who have not narrowed their choices but are expected to choose between Duke, Miami, or Florida.

The Blue Devils are also in contention for Acaden Lewis, who has listed Duke among his Top-4 finalists alongside North Carolina, Kentucky, and UConn.

Coach Jon Scheyer has yet to secure a commitment from the 2025 class, following a successful 2024 recruiting class of six players. He has indicated a more patient approach to high school recruiting going forward, with a greater focus on the transfer portal in the offseason.

There is currently no timeline for Mullins to announce his college decision, but an official Top-5 finalists list is expected soon, with North Carolina gaining significant momentum in his recruitment.
