Breaking: Fisch Confirms Huskies Star Likely Not Play this Weekend Due to a Knee Injury

After the game against Washington State, where senior linebacker Carson Bruener left the game with a shoulder injury, Washington coach Jedd Fisch indicated that Bruener should be available for this weekend’s Big Ten opener against Northwestern. Bruener, a team captain, sustained the injury while tackling Cougars quarterback John Mateer during the fourth quarter.

“I think he’ll be fine,” Fisch said about Bruener’s status for Saturday. “He just needs to go through the medical protocols after that hit. We’ll see how it goes.” Senior linebacker Bryun Parham stepped in for Bruener alongside senior Alphonzo Tuputala for the remainder of the game, maintaining the performance expected of him. Parham, a 5-foot-11, 223-pound transfer from San Jose State, made a tackle shortly after coming in and contributed to UW’s first interception of the season, which occurred shortly thereafter.

In addition to Bruener, junior linebacker Anthony Ward, a former walk-on from Arizona, also suffered an injury during the fourth quarter. Fisch mentioned that Ward will also need to undergo medical evaluations before his availability against Northwestern is confirmed. However, Fisch stated that senior tight end Quentin Moore will likely not play this weekend due to a knee injury he sustained in the season opener, which has sidelined him for the last two games. This means seniors Keleki Latu and freshman Decker DeGraaf will need to step up, as they combined for three catches for 53 yards against the Cougars.
