BREAKING: 5-Star ‘Exceptional’ Player Makes Commitment Decision after Ohio State Visit

In late November, the Buckeyes offered a scholarship to exceptional 2026 defensive end/tackle Jahkeem Stewart, who told Bucknuts he was “excited” and that it was an offer he had “wanted for a long time.”

Stewart then went to Ohio State for the Buckeyes’ spring game and informed Bucknuts that he was quite impressed.

Stewart returned to Columbus to work out with Ohio State defensive line coach Larry Johnson at one of the Buckeyes’ camps in June. He has also stated that he plans to make another visit to Ohio State.

“I’ll be there for the Michigan game,” Stewart informed Bucknuts in late July.

Stewart will be visiting as a student at Edna Karr High School in New Orleans, Louisiana. Stewart formerly attended New Orleans (La.) St. Augustine, but has elected to stay local and has transferred to Edna Karr High School, according to several sources. Stewart, however, will be unable to play football in 2024 due to his transfer.

Edna Karr High School is a New Orleans-based public, open enrollment, coeducational charter school. The school is a college prep high school. There has been much conjecture that Stewart would reclassify to the class of 2025 and graduate early. St. Augustine has restrictions prohibiting early graduation.

Stewart, who stands 6-foot-6 and weighs 270 pounds, is ranked as a 5-star prospect by 247Sports. He is the nation’s No. 12 overall 2026 prospect, the top defensive tackle, and the No. 2 prospect in Louisiana.

Stewart has a very good relationship not only with Johnson, but also with Johnson’s assistant, LaAllan Clark.

Stewart, of course, has received scores of scholarship offers. In addition to Ohio State, his offers include LSU, Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Texas, Texas A&M, Michigan, Penn State, Oregon, Oklahoma, USC, Tennessee, and many more.

After working out at one of the Buckeyes’ camps in June, Stewart had a lot of positive feedback.

“Everything is fine, it’s going great,” Stewart said of Johnson.

Stewart dominated in one-on-ones and competitions at camp.

Following camp, Stewart visited with Johnson.

“He said I would play inside and out,” Stewart recalled of his potential role as a Buckeye. “He sees me as a generational player. He stated I’d make his job easier.

Stewart also met with Ryan Day.

“Coach Day was great,” Stewart added. “He enjoyed the way I played and moved. He adores my persona. He stated I would be a fantastic fit for their program. Coach Day is an excellent coach. “He loves to win.”
