JUST IN: Green Bay Packers Confirm Replacement For Unfortunately Injured Star

Jordan Love is clearly the future of the Green Bay Packers. His remarkable performance in his first season as the team’s quarterback piqued the interest of many clubs in his long-term future with the franchise, and many expected him to continue his impressive form throughout the 2024 NFL season.
However, his injury in the team’s season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil has fans concerned about his form once he recovers. The optics don’t seem good for the most ardent Packer Nation supporters, but his rehabilitation timeline implies the injury isn’t as catastrophic as fans initially thought.

Now that fans have a better understanding of Love’s health, the attention shifts to which player will take over the starting quarterback position while the de facto QB1 recovers. While Malik Willis is expected to start, his time with the Tennessee Titans has fans and analysts considering a more experienced quarterback.

However, it appears that the organization has reached a decision on who will take over for Jordan Love at center.

Matt LaFleur, Green Bay Packers to use Malik Willis and Sean Clifford as QB options amid Jordan Love injury

According to Andrew Gould of The Spun, the Green Bay Packers seem more concerned with working with their current quarterback room than with finding a replacement for Love.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Packers are unlikely to pursue Ryan Tannehill or another senior quarterback. They believe Love will return “on the sooner end” of a three-to-six-week schedule.

That leaves Malik Willis and Sean Clifford as internal candidates to succeed Love.

How Malik Willis Starting Over Jordan Love Impacts Green Bay's Odds

Willis stated before the season began that he is ready to step up and play under LaFleur’s scheme. However, his poor performance with the Titans does not inspire confidence among Green Bay Packers supporters. During his two seasons in Tennessee, he completed 35 throws for 350 yards, no touchdowns, and three interceptions.

Meanwhile, Clifford may be brought up to the roster if they do not believe Willis is up to par. He was recruited to the practice squad and might be called up at any time. While he is unlikely to pull off a Brock Purdy, he is more than willing to step up to the plate if necessary.

Fans of the Packers can only hope that the rest of the offense can step up for the backups as they await Love’s return.
