JUST IN: Phillies star suffer another injury setback after undergoing Tommy John surgery

Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Bryce Harper exited Wednesday’s game in Toronto after being struck on the left elbow by a pitch.

Harper showed visible discomfort and clutched his elbow after getting hit by a 92 mph fastball from right-hander Bowden Francis in the first inning.

Despite the injury, Harper managed to run the bases and play defense through the first and second innings. However, Edmundo Sosa pinch-hit for Harper at the start of the third inning and took over at third base, with Kody Clemens shifting from third to first base.

Harper, who is batting .282 with 26 home runs and 76 RBIs, has been dealing with ongoing wrist and elbow issues.

The 31-year-old is in his first full season at first base following right elbow surgery, which prompted his move from right field.

He returned 160 days after undergoing on his right elbow on November 23, 2022.
