LATEST: Alabama Confirm Groundbreaking Replacement For Seriously Injured Star

Kadyn Proctor was getting ready to start at left tackle in Alabama football’s season opener.

He did warmups but did not finish them. He departed early to go to the locker room with the trainers. When he came out, he was no longer in uniform. It appeared to be a left upper body injury.

“Caught me by surprise,” Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer said afterward. “I could not go tonight. We will continue to assess tomorrow to determine the seriousness of the situation. We’ll learn more as the week progresses.

Elijah Pritchett took Proctor’s place at left tackle, where he had previously worked in the spring. Alabama defeated Western Kentucky 63-0 on Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium, with Pritchett at left tackle.

Proctor departed the field after the game wearing a white shirt. That was slung across his left arm.

After transferring from Iowa to Alabama, Proctor claimed the starting left tackle spot in August. Proctor had left through the transfer portal shortly after Nick Saban retired.

Pritchett mostly played right tackle throughout practices this fall, and was listed as a “or” starter on the depth chart alongside Wilkin Formby. On Saturday, however, he was called upon to play left tackle. If Proctor misses time due to the injury, this is certain to continue.
