South Carolina’s football team will be without two offensive linemen for an undetermined period of time. Shane Beamer, head coach, broke the injury news on “Carolina Calls” radio broadcast.
Veteran lineman Jakai Moore, “who I feel for,” will be sidelined for a while. “We’ll see how long that lasts,” Beamer remarked. “He won’t be ready to go.” Moore did not participate in the team training, but USC’s coach did not specify what was wrong with him.
Moore, a sixth-year senior, started nine games for the Gamecocks last season. Aaryn Parks, a redshirt senior offensive lineman who moved to USC from Oklahoma this offseason, is “probably gonna be out for a while.” Beamer said Parks’ injury was to one of his ankles. Beamer believes Parks will be able to return in the middle of the season.
The Gamecocks’ season began on Aug. 31 against Old Dominion. USC’s offensive line struggled with injuries in 2023, losing six players to season-ending ailments and starting nine different line combinations. “To say we were decimated on the offensive line last year is an understatement,” he added.
