BREAKING: Notre Dame Lose Top Experienced Star To Devastating Injury

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish defeated Texas A&M in College Station, picking up a huge Week 1 victory. It was a charged atmosphere, but Duke transfer Riley Leonard made a terrific start in Irish gear. Moreover, Leonard triumphed against his former Duke coach, Mike Elko.

Notre Dame won 23-13 after a back-and-forth fight. However, they left the game with a crucial setback to starting wide receiver Jordan Faison, who will miss one or two weeks due to an ankle injury, according to Pete Sampson of the Athletic.
According to Marcus Freeman, wide receiver Jordan Faison will be out for 1-2 weeks due to an ankle sprain.

Faison was listed as a starter on the depth chart, but he only had two catches for 12 yards in the first game.

However, the sophomore from Fort Lauderdale is anticipated to be a key weapon for the Notre Dame offensive, so this might be a painful loss for the next several weeks.

KK Smith to play more for Notre Dame

With Faison sidelined for one to two weeks due to injury, Freeman has confirmed that KK Smith will take on a larger role, according to LeVon Whittaker.

Freeman announced that sophomore wide receiver Jordan Faison will be out for 1-2 weeks with an ankle sprain, and KK Smith will move up the depth chart and “see the field Saturday,” as mentioned during Monday’s press conference. KK Smith, also a sophomore from Texas, did not receive any targets in the Week 1 victory over the Aggies, but he is now set to play in the Week 2 matchup against Northern Illinois.

In 2023, Faison recorded 14 catches for 207 yards and three touchdowns over six games. Although he is a key starter in Notre Dame’s offense under Leonard, the team benefits from a relatively favorable schedule ahead, facing Northern Illinois, Purdue, and Miami (Ohio) in the next three games. This allows them to avoid rushing Faison back and risking further injury.
