LATEST: South Carolina football Star Traded after record-breaking 2023 season

South Carolina football alum Ernest Jones is on the move. According to NFL Network analyst Tom Pelissero, the linebacker is being traded from the Los Angeles Rams to the Tennessee Titans in a significant shift within the NFL.

The trade follows a recent back-and-forth between Jones and the Rams organization. Reports indicated that the team allowed Jones’ agent to seek a trade, leading Jones to post on social media, stating, “I never asked for a trade.” Despite this, just days later, Jones is being traded.

Jones has been a starting linebacker for the Rams since late in his rookie season in 2021, quickly establishing himself as one of the NFL’s top linebackers. In 2023, he set a new Rams record with 145 tackles in just 15 games.

During his rookie year, Jones was among the Rams’ top players in their Super Bowl LVI victory and could have contended for MVP honors if not for Cooper Kupp’s outstanding performance.

With the Titans, Jones joins a team aiming to compete in the AFC South against three other teams that had winning records in 2023, including a 10-7 Houston Texans team on the rise.

Jones, who began his South Carolina football career as a low three-star recruit from Georgia, worked his way up to become an All-SEC performer and a 3rd round NFL Draft pick, earning a place among the best linebackers in Gamecock history.
