LATEST: Hurricanes Lands Blockbuster Commitment For 4-star Top Player

The Miami football program still has work to do before the September 21 commitment decision from Byron Louis, a four-star running back from American Heritage. According to 247Sports and On3, Florida State is the leading favorite for Louis’ commitment.

On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine assigns Florida State a 91.7% likelihood of securing Louis, while Zach Blostein from Noles247 is the only reporter to have a 247Sports crystal ball prediction for him. Miami holds a 3.6% chance of winning Louis’ commitment, and Georgia stands at a 1.7% probability according to On3.

Wisconsin’s chances of recruiting Louis are below three percent. In June, Louis made official visits to Miami, Wisconsin, Georgia, and Florida State, in that sequence. He has visited Miami nine times, more than any other school, followed by four visits each to Florida State and Georgia.

As a junior in 2023, Louis rushed for 1,224 yards and scored 18 touchdowns, averaging 7.7 yards per carry. Throughout his high school career, he has accumulated 1,849 rushing yards and 31 touchdowns, including 11 touchdowns during his sophomore year in 2024. Before Louis, Miami sophomore running back Mark Fletcher was the standout running back from American Heritage.

“Miami’s pitch is that it’s home. They want me to stay and represent the city and neighborhood where I grew up.”

Girard Pringle Jr., a four-star prospect from Seffner Armwood, is currently the only running back committed to Miami’s 2025 class. Miami may end up signing just one running back in the 2025 cycle, as all the running backs on their roster have eligibility remaining beyond 2024, with four of them having at least three years of eligibility left.

Miami’s starting cornerbacks, Damari Brown and Darryl Porter, are also alumni of American Heritage. The Hurricanes’ 2025 recruiting class is currently ranked 10th in the 247Sports Composite rankings. While adding Louis would be a significant boost to Miami’s 2025 class, the Hurricanes are still in the mix for several other elite recruits.
