The Los Angeles Dodgers are no longer alone atop the National League West. The Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres are gradually gaining ground on Dave Roberts’ team for first place. Even the San Francisco Giants remain competitive in this division. A series victory over the Seattle Mariners could help the Angels separate themselves from the other teams. However, they may find it hard to do so with Tyler Glasnow’s injury.
According to Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic, Dave Roberts has intimated that Tyler Glasnow’s IL stay may run longer than the scheduled 15 days. In truth, the Dodgers pitcher is not yet ready to play catch. Notably, he developed right elbow tendonitis. Before facing the St. Louis Cardinals, the team substituted Justin Wrobleski to satisfy their rotational needs. They may keep to their rotation of him and Clayton Kershaw in the upcoming Mariners game.
Tyler Glasnow insists on playing for Dodgers amid injury
The Dodgers pitcher seemed eager to get back on the field as soon as possible. However, Dave Roberts forbade Glasnow from doing so in order to protect his long-term health.
“He was fighting tooth and nail to get a start tomorrow. We’ve been pretty consistent in preparing guys for the stretch run. He’s a huge part in finishing the season on the right note. If he had started tomorrow, I would have been on pins and needles since the first toss. I don’t think that’s good for him or the team. “We made the right decision,” the Dodgers’ manager asserted.
Glasnow has already tossed 134 innings. This is the greatest workload he has ever done in his career, but the fact that he is coming off an injury may be cause for concern.
