Breaking News: Florida football to land monster commitment for 5-star DL

Despite Autry’s early commitment to the Auburn Tigers, the Florida Gators had long pursued the five-star defensive lineman from Opelika, Alabama. Despite his commitment elsewhere, he has been open to seeing other schools, and UF is the one he has visited the most. Autry was last in town on an official visit in June, and while he’s considered a tough flip from AU, he’s still willing to travel during the season.

With the collegiate season approaching, Autry tells Swamp247 that he intends to be in The Swamp for UF’s season opener against the Miami Hurricanes.

Autry committed to Auburn in February of last year. He’s been a regular visitor to campus since then, and while he was open to teams like UF and Ohio State at times, he’s been perceived as more committed to the Tigers this summer. That has not deterred Florida from kicking the tires.

The visit to Florida, known for its passionate fan base and competitive program, is expected to provide Autry with a firsthand look at the Gators’ football environment and coaching staff. While his commitment to Auburn remains firm, the visit is seen as a way for Autry to experience another high-profile game day atmosphere and gauge the program’s direction under head coach Billy Napier.

Sources close to Autry suggest that this visit does not signal an imminent change in his commitment but rather reflects his interest in observing how Florida’s program operates in a game-day setting. It also indicates Autry’s desire to stay informed about developments in the broader college football landscape, despite his commitment to Auburn.

For Auburn, this visit presents an opportunity to reaffirm their relationship with Autry and demonstrate the advantages of being a Tiger. The coaching staff is expected to engage actively with Autry to ensure he remains enthusiastic about his future at Auburn and to reinforce the benefits of joining their program.
