The Auburn football recruiting class of 2025 continues to grow and ascend in the rankings, but one critical piece of the jigsaw remains missing: the Tigers have yet to add a quarterback to the class. For a long time, Julian “Juju” Lewis was the top priority for head coach Hugh Freeze and his assistants, but the chatter has recently switched to Deuce Knight.
Knight, a 5-star quarterback from Lucedale, Mississippi, had been committed to Notre Dame since September 2023, but has recently emerged as a prominent target for Auburn football. He and his family traveled to the Plains for Big Cat Weekend earlier this summer, and he received a full pitch from the Tigers’ coaching staff.
The coaches aren’t the only ones pushing to get the Mississippi quarterback in orange and blue; Auburn football tight end commits. Ryan Ghea joined the Tigers in November of last year and has taken the initiative to become a recruiter for his class. Ghea told Auburn Rivals that he intends to attend every Auburn football home game this season, but he has his work cut out for him.
“I’ve got a lot of recruiting to do,” Ghea stated. “Hopefully we can get our QB here in the next two weeks.”
According to Auburn Rivals, the tight end communicates constantly with Knight, who is currently keeping a close eye on him. Ghea wants Knight to flip and commit to the Tigers before the season begins on August 31.
Currently, the Auburn football class of 2025 has 22 commits and is rated fifth overall and fourth in the SEC.
