LSU Head Coach Dennis Shaver announced the signing, a transfer from William Carey University.
Hailing from Kingston, Jamaica, Machaeda Linton will join LSU this fall to contribute to the women’s jump squad. With Morgan Smalls graduating after the 2024 season, Linton is expected to fill that role. Before her time at William Carey, Linton attended St. Jago and Hydel High School.
Linton has achieved numerous accolades in recent years. She placed eighth in the triple jump at the 2022 World U20 Championships with a mark of 12.86 meters (42’ 2.25”). During her time at WCU, she earned nine NAIA National Championship titles—four in long jump, three in triple jump, and two in the 4×100-meter relay. Over two seasons, she received 12 First Team All-American honors across five different events.
Her most recent season was her best yet, as she won the long jump, triple jump, and 4×100-meter relay at the 2024 NAIA Outdoor Championships for William Carey University. She set a new personal best in the long jump with a distance of 6.35 meters (20’ 10”), and achieved a personal best of 13.22 meters (43’ 4.5”) in the triple jump. Additionally, Linton holds personal bests of 7.41 in the 60 meters, 11.55 in the 100 meters, and 25.26 in the 200 meters.

LSU men’s track and field Head Coach Dennis Shaver announced that the program is adding Jordan Turner, a transfer from Florida State University.
Turner, who is set to join LSU this fall, previously spent one year at both Florida State and Kentucky. A native of Kingston, Jamaica, Turner attended Calabar High School before his college career.
In his second collegiate season at Florida State, Turner earned two Second Team All-American honors in the long jump. He most recently placed 16th in the outdoor long jump with a mark of 7.52 meters (24’ 8.25”) and achieved two top-three finishes in the long jump at the ACC Indoor and Outdoor Championships. His best jump of the season was 7.90 meters (25’ 11”) at the ACC Outdoor Championships.
Before transferring to Florida State, Turner began his collegiate career at Kentucky, where he set a school record in the long jump with a leap of 8.13 meters (26’ 8.25”) at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, earning a third-place finish.
Turner also holds personal bests of 15.10 meters (49’ 6.5”) in the triple jump and 10.51 seconds in the 100 meters.
