Breaking: Florida Football Confirms Terrible Injury To Another Star And Out For Entire Season

Few things are more painful than a fall camp injury that sidelines a player for the entire season, but that’s exactly what the Florida Gators are facing after a significant injury this past weekend.

Redshirt sophomore defensive lineman Jamari Lyons suffered an injury during Florida’s first fall scrimmage on Saturday. On Monday, head coach Billy Napier announced that Lyons is out for the season.

“Jamari Lyons broke his ankle and will be out for the season. Our thoughts and prayers are with him,” Napier said, as reported by On3.

Napier added, “We had all 132 players there to support him as he was carried off the field, which shows the strong bond within the team.”

Injuries are always tough to witness, especially during a scrimmage. This injury will impact Florida on the field in 2024 and potentially even in 2025, as Lyons was expected to be the backup nose tackle behind senior Cam Jackson.

Lyons, a former four-star recruit, played in all 12 games for the Gators last season, including one start. He recorded 20 tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss.
