Julian Sayin moved to Ohio State from Alabama when Nick Saban announced his retirement from coaching collegiate football.
The five-star recruit was one of the Crimson Tide’s top 2024 signings. He enrolled early and competed in Rose Bowl prep with the Crimson Tide, and it appeared that the next step of his football career was set in Tuscaloosa until Saban relayed the news to the team.
Sayin entered the portal shortly after and chose the Buckeyes for a variety of reasons.
“I definitely made the right decision coming up here,” Sayin told me. “It came down to a lot of factors, but really I just wanted to be at a school with great tradition and great quarterback history and somewhere I can develop.”
In the wake of Sayin’s departure, Alabama received a pledge from a transfer, Austin Mack.

Germie Bernard, a transfer from Washington, shared his thoughts with reporters after Wednesday’s practice. Having contributed to the Huskies’ Pac-12 Championship and their College Football Playoff National Championship Game appearance, Bernard is confident that Alabama’s offense will surpass the one he left, which saw four players, including three wide receivers, drafted into the NFL. Bernard has even forecasted that Alabama could average over 40 points per game this season.
At Washington, under Kalen DeBoer, Bernard’s team averaged 36 points per game and recorded six games with 40 or more points. Now, surrounded by even more talent at Alabama, Bernard is excited about the potential.
He noted that his rapport with quarterback Jalen Milroe has been strong. “We’re connecting well on the field and working on our timing,” Bernard said. “We communicate during practice and watch film together off the field to ensure we’re in sync, which helps our execution during games.”
Bernard praised Alabama’s offensive scheme, which, according to him, is particularly favorable for wide receivers.
“The way they design their plays helps us get open and create opportunities,” he explained.
This season promises an exciting showcase for wide receivers, with several innovative route concepts already visible in preseason camp. Fans can look forward to seeing a thrilling offensive display on Nick Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium soon.
