Breaking News: Hurricanes Confirm Another Commitment From Top Star

Chaminade-Madonna Prepare defensive tackle Donta Simpson has verbally committed to Miami, after earlier committing to Maryland.

“Blessed and thankful to ALL through my journey!” Simpson shared on social media. “God’s timing is everything. I am officially 1000% dedicated to the Miami Hurricanes!!”

Simpson, a three-star prospect with an 86-grade and the 122nd-ranked defensive lineman in the 2025 class, visited Miami’s summer picnic last weekend and received an offer shortly after. He also chatted with former teammate and current Hurricane freshman safety Zaquan Patterson.

He is Miami’s 20th commitment and second defensive lineman in the 2025 class, which has pushed past of Oklahoma to rank eighth, according to 247Sports.

A return to campus on Tuesday for the Hurricanes’ first fall practice reaffirmed his dedication to the program he grew up admiring.

“I’ve been looking at Miami my whole life,” Simpson stated last week. “I always wanted to play for them.”

Simpson attended Hurricanes while growing up in the neighborhood, but had not visited campus until this past weekend.

“I like it already, it feels like family,” he exclaimed. “The people are great here.”

Chaminade-Madonna Several former Prep players have played at Miami, including Patterson and freshman wide receiver JoJo Trader, who is presently on the squad. Fellow senior Chris Ewald, a four-star cornerback, has also verbally committed to Miami. In June, Simpson chose Maryland over West Virginia and FAU.
